“A Letter to My Father” from the Fresh Danube Films programme closed the 9th Free Zone

“A Letter to My Father” from the Fresh Danube Films selection won over the Belgrade audience and concluded the film programme of the Free Zone festival. The screening was followed by a party promoting the Fresh Danube Films project. It was attended by project partners and the audience of the Free Zone festival.

The Fresh Danube Films event was marked by a guest appearance by Milivoj Beader, one of the main actors in this excellent film, which was directed by Damir Čučić and honored with the Audience Award at the Cinema City festival.

The Fresh Danube Films programme captured the interest of the audience at the Free Zone festival as well, making the concept of a travelling selection with two films from Austria, two from Croatia and two from Serbia very successful. The audience was able to see “Where is Nadia” and “Trolling” from Serbia, “Local Heroes” and “Forever Not Alone” from Austria, while the Croatian cinema was, in addition to “A Letter to My Father”, also presented with a very successful comedy “Sonja and the Bull”, directed by Vlatka Vorkapić. The goal of this concept, which makes the essence of the entire Fresh Danube Films project, is to promote the cinemas of the countries from the Danube region through cooperation and networking.

The films from the Fresh Danube Films selection have been screened at this year’s DORF from Vinkovci, Crossing Europe from Linz, Cinema City from Novi Sad, and Free Zone from Belgrade. The project was supported by the European Cultural Foundation.
