A documentary Druga linija is a result of long-term research of neo-avantgarde cultural and artistic scene of the late sixties and seventies in Novi Sad, which was marginalized until today. During its short and productive life, under the patronage of Tribina mladih, the home of the avant-garde of Novi Sad, this artistic movement was closely connected not only with important artistic centres of former Yugoslavia, but also with international artistic developments (7e biennale de Paris, September 1971, 19th Berlin International Film Festival). The state apparatus intervened with the use of force, magazines were banned, the management was replaced, films were banned, the protagonists were put on trial, and two were sentenced to prison. How is it that a backward mechanism of shutting down and getting rid of the most creative and progressive initiatives here is still relevant today?
