Young director Marko (Mihajlo Z. Jovanovic), after several unsuccessful attempts to shoot his first feature film, makes an acquaintance with a porn director Cane (Srdjan Miletic) and starts making films with him, showing his anger towards the society he lives in. After the conflict with Cane he starts his own porn cabare club in which the socio-political shows are frequently performed. He gathers porn stars around himself. Gay couple Johnny (Radivoj Knezevic) and Max (Srdjan Jovanovic), a transvestite Ceca (Ivan Djordjevic), junkies Rade (Aleksandar Gligoric) and Darinka (Mariana Arandjelovic) and others. However, Cane's brother who is a policeman interrupts a premiere, the press destroys them as well, and Marko decides he should leave Belgrade and have a tour around Serbia with his crew. Shortly after, series of conflicts happen with the viewers from the villages they visited. On the way, they meet a German journalist Franc (Srboljub Milin), who is fascinated with Balkan. Franc suggests Marko to make films with the authentic scenes of sex and violence for him, with the volunteers - victims who did not care for their lives. Porn gang has a possibility to have their revenge on rural Serbia...
Director's statement: "I think that in the Porn Gang, what is interesting is the combination of the black wave aesthetics (Pavlovic, Zilnik) with elements from modern Japanese film, American horror films, John Water's and Paul Morrissey's films... I wanted to see how Kemp in the mud works. I think it is a very interesting combination. I am very interested in this metafilm approach, the combination of various, seemingly incoherent styles. It's more interesting than social and political engagement, although the Porn Gang has that layer also. This film is actually a story about the conflict between rural and urban Serbia, Eros and Tanatos, a film on the Balkans in which death wins over Eros."
Awards:
"Nebojsa Djukelic" Award (awarded by the Jury of Association of Film Journalists and Critics of Belgrade, during FEST, 2009.)
