Programme selection: Wealth of Nations

The 0EURO is both: a new banknote pushing the design concepts of the original EURO banknotes to its limits and an unlimited artwork with a face value of 0 (zero). It is issued by 0EURO_BANK central bank and promises to pay the bearer of on demand nothing.

The key questions of the 0EURO experiment is rather absurd: what is the real market value of 'nothing'? And how can it be calculated? Foreign exchange and financial market on one hand, and art market on the other, both work with their own inner and not necessarily logical market mechanisms. 0EURO_BANK project aims to launch it's own paradox, yet somehow functional, market system.


Biographies of the artists and the groups:

Michael Aschauer born 1977 in Steyr, Austria; lives and works in Vienna. Various projects in conceptual (and mostly digital) media including video, sound, web, installation and photography works. Numerous international exhibition and festival participations.
