Sarajevo City of Film 2009

Synopsis:

A young Sarajevo boy is faced with the prospect of earning easy money. When he is confronted with some of the consequences of the trade he is joining, he is forced to make a decision to either continue or to choose a different path.

Director’s note:

The story “Woman in Purple” shows a darker side of Sarajevo in the post-war period, but it does not glamorize it. Despite showing the darker aspects of the city, the script reveals both the humor and the humanity of its characters. Importantly, it does not end on a dark note, but instead illustrates the human ability to change, and the need to ensure that the past does not keep us chained in a state of amnesia and social unawareness.
