Up to 10,000 Bucks: Over 50 films applied in just seven days

In only seven days since opening the call for Up to 10,000 bucks competition selection 52 films have applied from all over the world. This is a record number in comparison to the previous year, when that number stood at over 40 films. The films arrived from all corners of the world: Afghanistan, Albania, Belgium, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Italy, Macedonia, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, the USA, and of course, Serbia.

Every year this authentic programme screens films that have been shot with a budget of less than 10,000 dollars, thus stimulating the production of low-budget auteur films. In order to qualify for the call, the films cannot be shot before 2012, and their budget cannot exceed $ 10,000. There are no restrictions as to the length, type and genre of the film. The call will be open until April 19, and anyone wishing to apply can do so by filling out the form at www.cinemacity.org/upto10000/.

Traditionally, the selector for this programme is the director of last year’s winner of the Grand Prix for the best domestic feature. This year the selector will be Srdan Golubović, director of last year’s winner “Circles”. Last year the Ibis award for best film was won by the young director Dejan Radovanović for “Either Words Nor Quiet”, which secured him a place among the jurors in 2014.
