Traditionally, the selector for this programme is the director of last year’s winner of the Grand Prix for best domestic film. This year the selector will be Srdan Golubović, who directed last year’s winning film Circles.
This selection is one of the most attractive selections of the Cinema City festival. Each year it discovers new talents and gives them a chance to affirm themselves in the film industry. The popularity of this selection is best presented by the ever-growing number of applicants from all over the world.
“The decision to gather and motivate a crew and shoot a low-budget film is something we all need to support and award. It requires courage, and most of all, creativity if one wants to make a good film, perhaps even more so than what is needed for the big-budget film. The best proof of these films’ quality is the ever-growing number of visitors who return to these films every year” – says Dina Vuković, programme coordinator.
Last year the Ibis award for best film was won by the young director Dean Radovanović for “Either Words Nor Quiet”, which secured him a place among the jurors in 2014.
