The only person not to have grown tired of Alfred’s wildly eccentric, self-centred approach to life is long-suffering pal, Brian. Alfred is taking Brian to Spain to eat fryups and sip cocktails as their suns set. First, however, there is the small matter of making everything “nicey-nicey” before they hit the beach.
Alfred is 63, an inveterate liar and trails behind him a string of disastrous relationships: an estranged lover, an alienated daughter and an illegitimate son. His well-meant but, ultimately ridiculous attempts to set things straight are charming, profoundly touching and always hilarious.
Life unravels in ways even Alfred could not predict and he has to act fast if he is to bring his family back together. Nothing is more surprising than the truth.
