Up to 10,000 Bucks Presents Low-Budget Films by Most Talented Authors Around the World

Make Sure Not to Miss out the 28 Original Cinematic Accomplishments Selected by Miloš Pušić, in Fierce Competition with Record Number of Entries

The Ninth Cinema City presents one of the audience’s favorites – the Up to 10,000 Bucks section – which brings to this year’s festival a variety of 28 works selected from as many as 500 film submissions! Filming with a budget of up to $10,000, the talented authors from around the world prove that, to make a movie, one needs much more than a bank account and handful of money.

Don’t miss out the chance to see the Ninth Cinema City’s selection of unique cinematic achievements directed by the talented authors who perceive budgetary constraints not as an obstacle but rather as an impetus towards the creation of an original cinematic expression. We have no doubt that the Up to 10,000 Bucks program, featuring films made with a budget of up to $10,000, will be particularly interesting, as we have had a record response to our call for entries this year - even 500 film submissions from all over the world!

The program selector, director Miloš Pušić, found himself facing a big task and a challenge, which resulted in creating a quality program made up of extraordinary low-budget films, which will add a pinch of special charm to this year's edition of the Cinema City Festival, and also give our visitors a unique opportunity to see the movies not otherwise included in the standard cinema repertoires.

“The record number of entries at this year's festival assumes a wider, but at the same time tougher selection, and also a greater responsibility. If you ask me to find the lowest common denominator of all the movies from the list, that would be the creative energy radiating from their every frame. The level of production is much higher than before, and the technology available has made it possible for small independent films to stand on an equal footing with big productions,” says Pušić.

The festival audience will have a chance to see 28 cinematic accomplishments from the entire world, which will be screened as part of our Up to 10,000 Bucks section. Talking about this year's selection, Up to 10,000 Bucks program coordinator Dina Vuković reveals: “This year, we have had as many as 500 submissions to our Call for Entries, and this heightening interest encourages us to continue developing this program. At this year's Cinema City Festival, the audience will have an opportunity to see the films directed by the most talented filmmakers from around the world, who, despite their shoestring budgets, succeeded to create breathtaking movies. After all, come and see for yourselves!”

“The variety of our film selection guarantees dynamic, unpredictable evenings. All the audience has to do is be open and willing to see non-mainstream movies that often question conventional forms and film genres, and – just like the authors of the selected films did – bravely embark on an adventure!”
