Documentary feature about Boye, a band from Novi Sad, titled “The First Real Female Sound” by author Brankica Drašković, which premiered at last year’s Cinema City selection Planet Rock, was declared the best film at fourth Documentary Rock Film Festival in Croatia. This year’s jury members, Igor Mirković, Gordan Nuhanović and Petar Mitrić came to a decision, noting “for informative and comprehensive depiction of sociological and cultural context of the ‘80s, which sprung one of the first female rock bands in former country of Yugoslavia”. “The First Real Female Sound” is the best film at DORF according to votes of audience in Rijeka.
Screenings of Planet Rock selection are among the most beautiful experiences of Cinema City festival. Last year, big screens of outdoor cinema arenas, brought film stories on famous music stars, bands and influential music festivals, like Depeche Mode 101, Roskilde, Radiohead: Meeting People is Easy, The Clash: Westway to the World, and many others.
