Nominated for Golden Palm in Cannes Film Festival and Empire Award in the category of best horror in Empira Awards Festival in Great Britain, Tarantino’s movie Death Proof comes to Cinema City Festival as a part of Grindhouse project. This new creation by the film eccentric and the showman of controversy, Quentin Tarantino, is going to be shown in The Best of Horror Selection.
In the movie, Kurt Russel plays once professional driver Mike who is in a bloodthirsty killer mood. A misogynist and sociopath, with maniac behaviour, at the wheel of his car, Mike goes searching for new victims. They are always young attractive women. This time, provocative Jungle Julia, a radio DJ and a model who goes to Texas with her two close friends, Shanna and Arlene are next. The girls are not aware of the danger when they become Mike’s target, who constantly preys on them behind the wheel of his unusually nice car. Are they to become his victims, are they the only ones, those are the uncertainties embedded in this unique 127 minutes film “package”.
Ever since he appeared in Sundance Festival in 1992 with his Reservoir Dogs, Tarantino has not stopped with expanding the circle of his admirers. For the cult movie, Pulp Fiction from 1994, he won the Oscar for best screenplay. Highly versatile, he is equally known by his producing, directional, and acting work. He received forty-five awards in total for his works, and great recognitions followed with numerous nominations in prestigious film festivals.
