“Slovenian Girl” within Balkan Box selection

Damjan Kozole’s awarded film “Slovenian Girl” will be screened at Cinema City Festival within Balkan Box selection, which brings us some of the best new achievements from the region.

Lead hero is a 23 year old Alexandra who arrived from a small town to Ljubljana, to study English. Her parents are divorced and no one knows of her secret ads under alias “Slovenian Girl”, or of the fact that prostitution is her main source of income. She is very good at manipulating others, she is a good liar and small time thief. And she hates her mother. The only person she cares about is her father. Alexandra is ambitiously making plans for her life but things tend to not turn out as expected.

Over 50 candidates came to audition for the lead role. After three rounds of audition, director Kozole chose 23 year old drama student, Nina Ivanisin. The film also stars Peter Musevski, Primoz Pirnat, Marusa Kink, Uros Furst, Ales Valic, Dejan Spasic, Aljosa Kovacic, Marjuta Slamic, Ivo Godnic, Danijel Malalan and others. French actor and director Cedric Brelet von Sydow also stars in a minor role.

Croatian director Ognjen Svilicic signed the screenplay in co-operation with Matvez Luzar and film’s director Damjan Kozole.
