In the selection TRIBUTE: Contemporary Turkish Cinema visitors of Film and Media Festival Cinema City will have the opportunity to see film Nokta (Dot), the latest creation by a world-acclaimed, award-winning director Derviş Zaim.
The film Dot shows a man who is being hunted by a crime from the past and who tries to redeem himself for his fault. One of the things which makes this film special is the fact that calligraphy, one of the most beautiful traditional art forms from Turkey, is woven in this film.
Director Derviş Zaim was born in Famagusta, Cyprus in 1964. He studied film production in London. His first novel Ares in Wonderland from 1995 won prestigious literary award Yunus Nadi in Turkey. A year later, with his début film Somersault in a Coffin, Zaim won numerous awards and began exceptionally successful career of a film director.
