The film tells two stories which are connected. Robert, middle-aged and slightly depressed and cynical New Yorker, comes to Serbia with the intention to make easy money. Branko lives in New York and desperately wants his girlfriend to come to the U.S., but obtaining the visa is a big problem. That's why the made a deal. Robert should travel to Serbia and marry Branko's girlfriend Ivana and then bring her to New York, and in return he will be given a certain amount of money by Branko. Upon his arrival, Robert meets Olga, Branko's mother, presenting himself as his good friend. Olga is trying to make him feel welcome, showing at its best the long tradition of Balkan hospitality, which is so strange to him. In the meantime, Branko is trying to earn what he had promised, but even in New York things are not so easy...Members of the prestigious Tribeca festival's jury, with famous actor Adrian Brody among them, gave a statement with their explanation for giving the film Here and There the award: "it gave us not only New York, it gave us great characters, a great story, it gave us the world".
