German Premiere of Darko Lungulov’s “Here and There”

German distribution of Darko Lungulov’s “Here and There” started with its gala premiere at Berlin cultural center “Kulturbrauerei”. The film, which was screened at last year’s Cinema City festival in competition selection National class, will be organized in twenty biggest German cities and thirty cinemas.

Besides director Lungulov, Berlin premiere was attended by Mirjana Karanovic who at last year’s Cinema City received an award for best actress in a leading role, and Serbian ambassador to Germany, Ivo Viskovic. In Germany, the film is titled “Here and There: see you in Belgrade”.

After successful start of film’s distribution, Lungulov commented: “I am very pleased that premieres in Berlin and Stuttgart were such a success. Audience reactions, both German and Serbian, were positive as were reactions of critics, including serious journals and specialised film magazines in Germany. It was great having that kind of interaction with audience in Germany, because it proves in the best possible way that the effort was worth the trouble.”

Film “Here and There” follows two interconnected stories on two continents. Robert, played by David Thornton, is a depressed New Yorker who, trying to get some easy money, ends up in Serbia where, instead of money, he rediscovers himself. At the same time, young Serbian emigrant Branko (Branislav Trifunovic), deals with existential troubles of life in New York, while desperately trying to make possible for his girlfriend to leave Serbia and come to America. The film has excellent cast: David Thornton, Mirjana Karanovic, Branislav Trifunovic, Cyndi Lauper. This is the first Serbian film that participated in competition selection at Tribeca film festival in New York, having won an award for Best New York Narrative.
