Film programme at Cinema City 2011

This year Cinema City will introduce a number of exclusive innovations by adding several new selections:

Nobarcode is a selection dedicated to the modern culture and the world we live in, where emotions, events, stories, reality and imagination are expressed and confronted through the art of filmmaking. This selection does not contain limitations nor rules. It explores the modern world through film and visual communication which melts into other art disciplines. Hungry Days is a selection which will present débutant feature films from all over the globe. 360 degrees selection will screen films most praised by the audience at some of the biggest film festivals, regardless of whether they carry original and innovative signature of indie production or tell stories about people resembling us or us as perceived in our (pleasant) dreams.

As is tradition, Cinema City will hold three competition selections – Exit Point, National Class and Up to 10.000 bucks. Exit Point selection will screen some of the best achievements from the world cinematography, features presented at some of the most important film festivals such as Cannes, Sundance, Berlinale, Tribeca etc. National Class will present the newest achievements in domestic production as well as exclusive premieres of upcoming features. Up to 10.000 bucks will remain true to its name and present films and their authors who succeeded in using their creativity to produce something with a lasting effect, proving that one creative impulse cannot be thwarted by the lack of funds.

Balkan Box selection brings newest achievements from the region. Pedja’s Film Collection brings us back to the Golden Age of world cinematography, always screening cult classics, while Planet Rock selection remains for lovers of both music and film, and has prepared extraordinary features created on the very border of these two art forms. Cinema City Shorts is for the admirers of the short form expression and The Cool Kidz will again present some of the most beautiful animated features.

Next to several retrospectives of foreign contemporary authors and the tribute to one of the most significant regional cinematography, selection Retrospective of a Domestic Author will present the life’s work of one of the most important domestic author.
