The debut movie of director Jorge Hernández Aldana called El Búfalo de la Noche is going to be shown in Exit Point Selection. Aldana wrote the screenplay in cooperation with many times awarded screenplay writer called Guillermom Arriagom, who was nominated for an Oscar, and he remained in the public memory by cult movies such as Babel (2006) and 21 Grams (2003).
El Búfalo de la Noche shows psychological crises of a twenty-two-year-old schizophrenic man, Gregory. His life is filed with two loves – to his adored girlfriend Tania, and his best friend Manuel. In the moment when these relationships get disturbed, the final collapse occurs.
The time that Gregory spends visiting a psychiatrist hospital, Manuel and Tania spend together, gradually falling into a romance, and finally giving in to each other. Gregory’s love and complete trust get misused. He commits suicide, but before that he makes a plan for the lovers, a plan that will drive Manual and Tania into madness.
Born in Karakas in 1969, Jorge Hernández Aldana graduated on computer engineering. With 22, he was in the position of a counselor on the security systems in Venezuela government. With 23, he abandons all this in order to dedicate himself fully to the film. He moves to Poland, where he studies at Film School in Lodz. In numerous festivals he won awards with his short films, Un primer paso sobre las nubes and Aprendiz. He has made TV series, short films, and commercials. El búfalo de la nochei is his first movie, and it was noticed in Sundance film Festival 2007.
