Visitors of Film and Media Festival Cinema City will today, on Tuesday 9th June, have the opportunity to see great number of quality film creations and film premières, to attend the Academic programme of the festival, which is held every day at Press Centre at 3 pm, with the presence of eminent experts from the film world, who will talk about topics related to film art and film industry, as well as to visit original displays of exhibitions in Media Art programme called Wealth of Nations.
Sociopathic story from the film shows four women in their fight for
dignity, integrity and mother's right to decide: to give birth or to
end a life. Their accidentally intertwined destinies, besides the film
topic related to abortion, talk about general position of women,
regardless of their social status. Main characters in the latest film
by director Novaković are portrayed by Anica Dobra, Duška Stojanović,
Mirjana Karanović, Marija Vicković, Nada Šargin, Ljubomir Bandović. At
the same location at 10 pm there will be the projection of South-Korean
black-humour drama Members of the Funeral by Baek Seung-bin within Exit
Point selection.
As a part of the programme Special Screenings, at open-air cinema in Katolička porta, beginning at 9.15 pm there will be the projection of the film 21 Grams by Alejandro González Iñárritu, for which famous Mexican writer, director and screenwriter Guillermo Arriaga, the honourable guest of Cinema City festival wrote the screenplay. At 11.15 pm film creation St. George Shoots the Dragon by famous domestic director Srđan Dragojević will be shown.
Open-air cinema in Dunavski Park, offers in its programme two highly attractive films from Planet Rock selection, Depeche Mode 101, beginning at 9.15 pm, and later at 11.15 pm Radiohead: Meeting People is Easy.
In the third open-air cinema, located in Miletićeva Street, at 9.15 pm there will be the première of the film Two-Legged Horse from Exit Point selection, by director Samira Makhmalbaf, based on the screenplay written by her father, famous Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf. It's a heart-breaking story, with realistic documentary-like footages, which shows human metamorphosis, backward evolution to the level of an animal, at times when all values are erased, and human relationships are based on maltreatment and exploitation. At 11.15 pm there will be the première from Democracy: Export/Import selection A Blooming Business by the Dutch director Ton van Zantvoort. The film shows "the other side" of the beauty of flowers, through the flower industry’s slave mechanism involving Kenyan prisoners.
At big hall of Pozorište Mladih, beginning at 8 pm, there will be the projection of Duck Soup, musical comedy from 1933 by the director Leo McCarey, while at 10 pm there will be the projection of musical documentary Justice: A Cross the Universe directed by So_Me and Romain Gavras.
At the same location, at small hall, at 6.30 there will be excellent Argentinian comedy Lovely Loneliness directed by Martín Carranza and Victoria Galardi, a première of New Latino Film selection. Following that at 8.30 pm there will be the film Hair High by the legendary animator Bill Plympton, and after that beginning at 10.30 pm there will be films from Up to 10,000 Bucks selection in the following order: Piss Schwimmer, Breathtaking, Speed and Journey of a Red Fridge.
At Art cinema Vojvodina in SPENS, beginning at 8 pm you can see the classic by François Truffaut Jules and Jim from 1962, whereas the projection at 10 pm is reserved for a film from the Godzilla serial, films about the famous film creature which left a significant trace in world's cinematography, and became one of the recognisable symbols of popular Japanese culture. Tonight on the programme is Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla by the Japanese director Jun Fukuda.
Besides the rich film programme, academic programme of the festival is also organised for festival's visitors. Today at 3 pm at Press Centre, located in Serbian National Theatre, the topic "Critical review of the past" will be open for discussion. Programme participants are Pjer Žalica, Goran Radovanović, Srđan Koljević, Aleksandar Novaković, Mladen Đorđević and Miroljub Stojanović. Academic programme will take place every day in the festival's press centre in Serbian National Theatre, from 7th to 14th June at 3 pm, and will be open for everyone who wishes to participate, and it is aimed at young people, students and everyone who love film. Panels will cover different current topics from film industry, and the programme's editor and moderator is Jugoslav Pantelić.
