Absolute winner is Srdjan Koljevic’s “The Woman with the Broken Nose” which received the most awards. This achievement was rated the best by jury, audience and accredited members of the press.
Unfortunately Nebojsa Glogovac, winner in the category of best actor in a leading role couldn’t attend the ceremony due to his theatrical engagement, but he sent a letter of appreciation, read by director and screenwriter Srdjan Koljevic. Also, a touching and emotional letter was sent by Iraqi director Mohamed Al-Daradji. The audience greeted both letters with sincere applause. A special surprise for the audience was Emir Kusturica’s appearance who won best actor award within Exit Point selection and his presence greatly added to the gala atmosphere of the Festival. Our esteemed actor Vlastimir Velisavljevic was also present to receive his special recognition for artistic contribution within National Class selection, charismatic Nikolina Djordjevic, winner of best actress award in National Class competition programme for her role in “32nd of December”. Winners from Up to 10.000 bucks competition selection, Nikola Ljuca, Dane Komljen, Louise Botkay Coucier and Zoran Tairovic also appeared on the stage.
During these last eight days, we presented over 120 films, over 30 premieres within three competition selections and 11 review selections. Festival took place at five locations, at Katolicka porta, Serbian National Theatre, Dunavski park, Youth Theatre and Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina. These eight days Cinema City welcomed 80.000 visitors and clear skies, warm weather and quality programe certainly contributed to great attendance at open-air cinemas, one of strongest traits of Cinema City Festival. Audience of Novi Sad especially loved the appearance of Juliette Lewis who officially opened this year’s Festival and later performed with her new band at Petrovaradin fortress at musical opening of the Festival, on June 5th. From June 5-12 Novi Sad truly became cinema-city!
