Cinema City 2010

International Film and Media Festival Cinema City will be held from 5th to 12th June 2010 in Novi Sad. During the eight days of the festival, Novi Sad will become once more a city-festival, with rich film, music, and academic program. This third edition of Cinema City festival will be marked by novelties in its organisation as well as premieres of domestic and foreign films and eminent guests from the world of film.

The film programme of the festival will present 14 selections of domestic and foreign production, along with three competitive selections and numerous retrospectives. Over 150 films, more than a hundred premieres will be shown at 4 indoor and 3 outdoor locations. The festival will award 20 domestic, international and low-budget films.

This year, the main cinema location will be Arena Cineplex, a new multiplex with 5 halls equipped with the latest technology as well as a one of a kind Dolby 3D hall in Serbia. For the first time in the region, a drive-in cinema will be opened at Cinema City festival 2010. The Drive-in Cinema will be located at Petrovaradin Fortress, at the same place where Exit’s Main stage is situated every year in July. With attractive film programme, a unique location and capacity for more than 450 cars, the Drive-in Cinema will be presenting an exceptional innovation of the festival in 2010.

The Media Art programme of the festival will consist of an exhibition and a conference at which more than 50 artists from around the world will participate. The music programme will include spectacular opening and closing parties for 20,000 people as well as numerous concerts and parties at which domestic and foreign music stars will perform. In the city centre, at Trg Slobode square, there will be the festival’s centre, looking up to great festivals worldwide.

Cinema City will start educational workshops as a part of the Academic programme, during which, film artists, theoreticians, critics and representatives of film industry will discuss many significant subjects related to film art and film industry.

Cinema City expects more than 500 accredited guests, among them there are film authors, directors, actors, representatives of film festivals and film institutions, journalists and artists. Besides prestigious people of film industry, the festival will host more than 300 young authors as part of Up to 10,000 Bucks selection, authors who represent the future of domestic and international cinematography.

Since 2010, Cinema City is independently organised by Citizens’ Association „Cinema City”. The organising structure, as well as the team of associates and friends who work on developing and organising the festival throughout the whole year have been presented through the management board and the council of the festival.
