Latin America, whose film industry was created with hard work and patience, is bubbling with films. It has produced splendid creations which are being awarded throughout the world, and it has opened its market successfully competing against Hollywood domination. The variety of film expressions and aesthetics, high quality of films, mostly by younger, independent authors from that part of the world, the unstoppable breakthrough of Latin American films on world's stage, our Cinema City traditionally presents with the New Latino Cinema programme.
Thanks to this programme, a true masterpiece - Mexican film Parque vía by Enrique Rivero, which got the top prize at Locarno International Film Festival and was awarded at San Sebastian Festival in the Horizontes category, is coming to Serbian audience. Apart from Rivero, other Mexican colleagues will be presented, such as Rene U. Villarreal, whose first film experiences were in Hollywood blockbuster The Mexican as an assistant director, with his vivid film, which took a long time to prepare Cumbia Callera. Another author is Andrea Martínez Crowter with the film Cosas Insignificantes, in which the depth of human relationships is explored.
Argentinian representatives are El nido vacío by Daniel Burman, and Amorosa soledad by Martín Carannza and Victoria Galardi. El nido vacío won Silver Shell for the Best Actor by Oscar Martínez, and Jury Prize for the Best Photography by Hugo Colace at San Sebastian Festival, and Amorosa soledad won the Youth award at the same festival.
