The lead hero is Eleni who seeks absolute love. At the same time film presents a long journey through history and the events of the last fifty years, which made an impact on the 20th century. The characters in the film move as if in a dream. The dust of time interfere with memories, which are explored and relived in the present.
Director Angelopolus enrolled in law school in Athens but soon left his studies to go to Sorbonne (Paris) to study literature. After graduating he wanted to enter the School of Cinema in Paris but instead decided to return to Greece.
“The Dust of Time” will screen within Balkan Box selection, which brings us some of the best new achievements from the region. Next to this excellent drama, the selection will also screen “On the Path” by Jasmila Zbanic, “Katalin Varga” by Peter Strickland, “Slovenian Girl” by Damjan Kozole and “Alive!” by Albanian director Minaroli.
