Synopsis:
Dragan Petrović, a man of the Roma ethnic group, from a small village in the Balkans, used to be a horse trader, but while visiting one of the trade fairs, he traded a horse for a tamboura. He never learned to read music but he taught his three sons how to play music by ear and he founded a band, not only to make a living out of it, but to keep his family together.This unusual band’s struggle for existence is filled with comedic, but also deep, emotional moments.
Director:
Nikola Spasić graduated from the Art Academy in Novi Sad with a degree in multimedia directing, from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade with a master’s degree in film and TV editing, and is currently a doctoral student at the Art Academy in Novi Sad. He is one of the founders of REZON - Incubator of Multimedial Arts and Creative Industries, through which he participates in creating feature, documentary and animated films and series. Zašto je Dragan napravio orkestar is Nikola’s first feature documentary, and was eventually successfully released in the Simply Home Entertainment.
