The Conference was held in Szeged, at Grand Café, as part of the Festival Super 8mm. The participants presented the project, realized objectives and ideas that they promoted during the one-year cooperation. The objective of the “Cinema Contract” project – promotion of cultural exchange and understanding between people from the border region, primarily by way of film as a popular and effective type of media, was realized through joint workshops, lectures, introduction of cinematography of two neighbouring countries to younger population, especially students, designed web pages and almost daily communication between partners.
On behalf of the University of Szeged, the project was presented by the project manager, Oroslya Milian and assistant Dia Gollowitzer, while representatives from Novi Sad included programme coordinator Ivana Todorović and selector of CIFF Petar Protić. For the Closing Conference Protić prepared two lectures of comparative type on the subject of: “Revolutionaries at Work” and “Realism in Modern Cinema of the Eastern Europe”. The screenings included winners from Up to 10,000 bucks – Young Talent’s Competition selection: “The Other Shore” by Marko Đorđević and “Mirage” by Srđan Keča, while on the previous day the visitors had a chance to see three films produced during the project, as a result of a joint workshop held in Szeged: “Gordon” signed by Gabor Balla, “Katarina” directed by Aniko Zemanko and the third winner of Up to 10,000 bucks selection, Aniko Urban’s “Half Past Nine”
It was concluded that in addition to the objectives set forth in the project, another especially significant objective was realized as well, which is establishing and nurturing quality professional ties and friendly relations between the University of Szeged and Cinema City International Film Festival from Novi Sad.
