The third International Film and Media Festival Cinema City will be held from 5th to 12th June 2010 in Novi Sad. During the eight days of the festival, Novi Sad will be a city-festival, with rich film, music, and academic program.
The programme concept of the festival covers film, music, and academic programme, as well as Media Art programme which will take place at more than 20 locations in Novi Sad.
Film programme will present 14 selections of domestic and foreign production, along with three competitive selections and numerous retrospectives. Over 150 films, more than a hundred premieres will be shown at 5 indoor and 4 outdoor locations. The festival will award 20 domestic, international and low-budget films.
Media Art consists of a unique exhibition and conference at which more than 50 artists from around the world will participate. The exhibition will take place at the central square in Novi Sad. The programme encompasses lectures and performances which will present a certain topic of the programme.
Music programme of Cinema City festival is held at the magical Petrovaradin Fortress as well as at attractive locations in the city centre. The music programme includes spectacular opening and closing parties for 20,000 people as well as numerous concerts, VIP parties and receptions for the guests of the festival.
Academic programme includes more than 30 panels, with participants from more than 10 countries. During this programme, film artists, theoreticians, critics and representatives of film industry will discuss many significant subjects related to film art and film industry.
Guests of the festival in year 2008 and 2009 were the winner of the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) in Cannes Guillermo Arriaga, the winner of the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York Lance Hammer, the first Serbian winner at Sarajevo Film Festival Vladimir Perisic, as well as domestic and regional film icons like Miki Manojlovic, Goran Paskaljevic, Emir Kusturica, Pjer Zalica, Despina Mouzaki.
Cinema City has more than 500 accredited guests, among them there are film authors, directors, actors, representatives of film festivals and film institutions from around the world, journalists, artists. Besides prestigious people of film industry, the festival hosts more than 300 young authors as part of Up to 10,000 Bucks selection, authors who represent the future of domestic and international cinematography.
