The film programme contains 14 selections with over 150 films and more than 100 premieres.

The main parts of the festival are three competitive selections. Using thematic programmes, the festival will present to the audience the most recent film creations as well as great authors of significant works from film industry.

The three competitive selections of the festival are:

National Class which presents the best domestic film creations, exclusive premieres of domestic films.

Exit Point presents current, brave and different film creations of world cinematography as well as the laureates of the most significant festivals around the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Tribeca, and Sundance.

Up to 10k Bucks presents films made by using a budget less than 10,000 dollars and young authors from around the world who represent the future of cinematography.

Awards of Cinema City festival will be given by a jury consisting of five international members. Along with Ibis statue, prize money will also be given.

The non-competitive programme presents some of the most important film creations this year, musicals, homage to our great author, the best film from the region, a reading about film history as well as the most recent creations of attractive world cinematography.

The Best of Horror
The Cool Kids - films for children
Balkan Box - best films from the region, focuses on regional cinematography
Democracy: Export/Import - documentaries
New Latino Film - a compilation of production from Latin America

Cinema City Shorts - selection of short films
Pedja’s reading list on world’s cinematography

During the non-competitive programme, Cinema City introduced to the audience the work by a famous American animator Bill Plympton, and presented a collection of films by Guillermo Arriaga, one of the most original storytellers today who received Palme d’Or and was nominated two times for the Oscar for Best Screenplay. The festival also presented the famous creations by Aleksandar Sasa Petrovic and Zika Pavlovic.

EXIT POINT / Competitive selection of international film

One of the main competition selections at Cinema City Festival is Exit Point, a selection of international films. Exit Point presents current, brave and different film creations of world cinematography as well as the laureates of the most significant festivals around the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Tribeca, and Sundance. Every film has its premiere in Serbia and competes for the festival’s award. Exit Point programme will take place at Arena Cineplex.

NATIONAL CLASS / Competitive selection of domestic film

National Class is the name of the second, of three, competition selections of Cinema City Film & Media Festival. National Class presents the best domestic film creations, exclusive premieres of domestic films. All films are competing for festival awards. The festival will host numerous domestic film authors and crews.

UP TO $10,000 / Competitive selection of films made with a budget less than $10,000

The third competitive selection of Cinema City Festival is Up to 10,000 Bucks. It encompasses films made with the budget less than $10,000. Authors from around the world apply for this competition. The winning film in this selection will win prize money in the amount of $2,000.

BALKAN BOX / Selection of films from the region

Balkan Box represents the collection of the latest production of the region. Balkan Box selection is an opportunity for domestic audience to see some of the most significant new film creations from Croatia, Slovenia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Turkey, etc. Cinema City reveals to the audience interesting titles and authors of the region every year.

NEW LATINO CINEMA / New Latin-American films

Through the selection of New Latino Cinema, Cinema City presents some of the best Latin-American accomplishments. Many films made in the last several years have brought to light young authors who bring a completely new artistic expression. Numerous awards that Latin-American authors have won in recognized world festivals are the best proof of high-quality and diversity of Latino production.

PLANET ROCK / Musicals

Planet Rock selection will present films inspired by music. Music film has experienced a great expansion in the past years, and renowned directors, actors, and photographers made films about music stars and legendary bands, whose exciting biographies and careers draw great attention of the public.

PEDJA’S FILM COLLECTION / Reading list on world’s cinematography

As part of this selection, some of the most important accomplishments of the world’s cinematography will be presented. A well-known film expert from Novi Sad, Pedja Protic will be sharing the content of his famous film collection with the visitors of the festival.

RETROSPECTIVE OF A FOREIGN AUTHOR

In the past years, this selection presented films by director Lee Chang-dong who received the award for best Asian author in 2007, as well as films by Mexican screenwriter and director Guillermo Arriaga who has received the Palme d’Or and has been nominated twice for the Oscar. This year, as part of this selection, you will meet the accomplishments of another renowned person in world’s cinematography.

Within this selection, films made by one of the most significant domestic authors will be shown. The audience will have a chance to see some film creations that were of key significance to the development of domestic cinematography.

ANIMATRIX / Selection of animated films

The name for this selection was inspired by the anthological accomplishment of Wachovski brothers, creators of Matrix. With Animatrix selection, Cinema City wants to present to the audience the most interesting works from the domain of animated film. Japanese animations, European and American animated films of high-quality production, often based on comics, will get you into the world of virtual reality, new technologies, and cyber punk.
