Open call for young authors - "Vilmos Zsigmond Film Festival"
Vilmos Zsigmond Film Festival, whose first edition will be held from 10 to 13 May 2017 in Szeged - Hungary, issued a call for applications for young filmmakers, which is open until March 1 of this year. Festival aims to draw attention to the role and importance of cinematographers in the process of creating films, as well as provide an opportunity for young authors and students, especially cinematographers and directors to present their films.
The festival was founded in honor of the world-renowned cinematographer and Oscar winner Vilmos Zsigmond, who was born in Szeged. The artist who is considered to be one of 10 most important cinematographers in the history of film won the title of best cinematographer for the Steven Spielberg's fil, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and he was nominated for Oscar in the same category was for the films "The Deer Hunter", "The River" and "The Black Dahlia ".
Authors of newer films, completed after January 1, 2014, with a unique vision and creative filming approach, which also characterized the work of Vilmos Zsigmond, may apply to the festival. There are no thematic restrictions or limitations in terms of technical specifications, genre or length, and one filmmaker can submit multiple applications.
