In excellent atmosphere and specific ambience of Petrovaradin fortress, extraordinary parties are being held at the opening and closing of Cinema City Film and Media Festival. Quality musical warm up prepares the visitors in the best possible way for upcoming events of the festival and promises original entertainment for the duration of the festival, while the closing parties summarize all the favorable impressions from previous days through energy of the audience and unforgettable musical performances.

Famous Hollywood actress Juliette Lewis will open this year’s Cinema City Film and Media Festival on June 5th. Juliet will officially open Festival’s film programme, and will also perform with her band „New Romantics” that same evening at the music opening of the Festival at Petrovaradin Fortress.

Along with successful film career, Juliette Lewis always nurtured great love for music. In the past few years she actively performed with her, now former, band „Juliette and the Licks”, who left a legacy of four studio albums. Our audience had an opportunity to see and hear this energetic band at Exit festival in 2008. Although many criticised her for neglecting her acting career because of her music, she said:

”I enjoy making movies, I love dramas, but that’s not the only food for my soul. It is made out of music, drama and live gigs and now I have the feeling I’m doing all that I have to be doing and what I was born to do”. Festival audience will have an opportunity to meet this great artist, both as an actrees and as a musician.

This year’s music programme of Cinema City festival is left in charge of The Good Guys, audio-visual duo from Novi Sad. Members are producer Bojan Cizmic, also known as DJ Cell D and graphic designer Andrija Kovac, alias Xtrapurified. On June 5th, together with Juliette Lewis they will open the Festival at Petrovaradin fortress, and will also sign this year’s soundtrack for the Cinema City Festival.

The Good Guys are known for their attractive live performance which combines solely original sound and synchronized videography. Inspired by retro sounds and synthpop, funk and breakdance aesthetics, this dynamic duo brings a true answer to the works of electronic giants like Daft Punk or Chemical Brothers. These “disco ninjas” have more than 30 original songs and a great number of remixes as well as a long history of performing along some of the greatest names in electronic music scene. They began their music career at Exit festival in July 2008 and so far have performed with clubbing giants like Terence Fixmer, Hot Chip, Gorillaz Sound System, Martel, Adam Freeland and many others. The last in the line of excellent performances was in Belgrade, on April 24th, side by side with The Faithless.

Next to Juliette Lewis and The Good Guys, the opening party on June 5th will also include performances by excellent E Play, Rahmanee and Svi na pod.

Festival’s closing party will be held on June 12th, beginning at 22h, also at Petrovaradin fortress. Guests will be French DJ French Fries, who this year topped the playlists at WMC winter music conference in Miami with his hit Santa, then superb B2B sets performed by Dejan Milicevic and Marko Milosavljevic, Filip and MKDSL, Roy Fokker and Dee Face, Felony Flats and Andrea 3000.

Opening and closing parties of 2009 were visited by more than 20 000 people and two stages hosted performances of LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad, E-Play and many other local and foreign DJs.
