Hana Jušić’ Film “Quit Staring at My Plate” in Fresh Danube Films Section
A fantastic debut achievement by the screenwriter and director Hana Jušić is coming to our Festival from Croatia. This year's Cinema City Festival, as part of the Gradić Fest, features the film “Quit Staring at My Plate
”, a heartwarming drama telling a story about family relationships, love, restrictions and freedom.
The family is a communion in which we provide one another with intimacy, security and care, but many a time it just so happens that this unconditional love smothers, tortures and wounds those whom we feel closest. “Quit Staring at My Plate” is a story about a family that is even more like that than other regular families.
The film had its premiere screening at the International Film Festival in Venice, where it won the FEDEORA Award for the Best European Film. So far, “Quit Staring at My Plate” has won 16 awards, including the major prize at the International Film Festival – FEST and the Critics Jury Award at the European Film Festival Palić, and it has been shown at more than 30 festivals. It also won the Best Director Award at the recently completed festival in Pula.
