Cinema City 2015 @ New Creative District

In the right place at the right time

The eighth Cinema City International Film Festival will be held from June 29 to July 5, at a unique location – the new creative quarter comprised of China Town and Limanski Park. As before, the visitors will be able to enjoy rich programme primarily dedicated to the burgeoning film and music scenes, and a completely new festival experience.

The Cinema City festival offers its visitors and dedicated audience a completely new festival experience through an innovative programme and a truly attractive festival location, meaning China Town and Limanski Park, where we will present the carefully chosen films and young film talents from the country and the world, who are sure to shape the future of film art.

Expect to see an uncompromising and exciting programme that focuses on young filmmakers. Cinema City consists of three programme parts: CC Film, CC Music and CC Pro. CC Film will present accomplishments of young film authors, and also remind us of the masterpieces of some of the most renowned film directors, while CC Music will promote a new alternative sound of up-and-coming bands from the country and the region.

Once an industrial zone, this location had since transformed into a most unique arts district, which offers its audience all sorts of content, all at one place. The audience will get a chance to enjoy open-air cinemas – Limanski Park Open Air Cinema, and Planet Rock music stage and Open Air Cinema in China Town, where we will organize concerts and screen music films, which are always in demand, while Indoor Cinema will be located in Quarter and Fabrika. The halls will be adapted to support high technical standards of screening. Visitors will also get a chance to see exhibitions of applied arts, observe the skills of the local skateboarding community, enjoy picnics, and chill out at lounge bars, food zone, etc.

NEW PROGRAMME FOCUS

By introducing young film and music authors to the audience, Cinema City will reveal an entirely new film expression and a flourishing music scene.

Discover new film stars through old and new competition and review selections. This year the festival will have three competition and three review selections. The revitalised National Class competition selection will this year screen only the first and second films of domestic film authors. The increasingly popular Fresh Danube Films selection will bring the most interesting first and second arthouse films of young artists from the Danube Region. Up to 10,000 Bucks – the film selection reserved for films shot with a budget of less than $10,000 continues to record unabated interest of young authors from all over the world, with over 200 films applying.

The review film programme will screen films from all four corners of the world. As before, the 360° selection will offer a panoramic view of biggest hits and hidden jewels of world cinema, while the Planet Rock selection will be reserved for the most appealing music films. The newly-formed Respect to First Films selection will present the first films, masterpieces of some of the most iconic directors of today.

The Cinema City Pro programme will encompass additional content focused on meetings, education, and knowledge exchange between filmmakers of different age and background.

CINEMA CITY @ NEW CREATIVE DISTRICT

Our quest for the new and the unexpected had led us to China Town and Limanski Park. Carrying the cultural heritage of Liman from the 70s and the 80s, China Town has awakened once again as an alternative cultural location. Local craft shops amidst the clubbing events and local cultural initiatives have given an entirely new identity to this location. The potential of this district to generate and promote many creative initiatives can help speed up its revitalization into a permanent arts district, and that is the process we wish to be a part of.

In 2015, Cinema City will take you one step further in exploring the world of contemporary film art, alternative music, and festival culture. Owing to the programme dedicated to young film and music artists, we will witness the creation of new pages of film history and new stars of the exciting music scene.
